The martyr commemorated today is Denis the Areopagite, Bishop of the Athens. The first reading is from the epistle of St. Paul to the Colassians Chapter 2; verse 1 through 7. The second reading is from the Holy Gospel according to St. Luke Chapter 7; verse 31 through 35.
