The martyrs commemorated are the 20,000 of Nicodemia. The first reading is from the epistle of St. Paul to the Galatians Chapter 1; verse 11 through 19. The second reading is from the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew Chapter 2; verse 13 through 23.
